UPDATE: The video is now online : https://libertarianhome.co.uk/2013/08/video-steve-davies-history-of-individualism/
Further to my last message, the inaugural Libertarian Home evening lecture on Monday 17th June will be addressed by Dr Steve Davies, the historian and Education Director at the Institute of Economic Affairs. Dr Davies will put the present rise of libertarian politics into context and show how the progress of liberty, and the words used to describe it, have changed through the ages.
Most libertarians would agree that to build a free society “we wouldn’t start from here”, but we are where we are and this talk will tell us how we got there. This explanation will fascinate the curious and intellectual, but also prepare the listener for more effective activism.
This is also an exciting first step towards solving the problem of oversubscribed evenings at the Rose and Crown. It will be a slightly more formal, and a somewhat larger affair than the existing event series.
We will be in The Counting House‘s “Griffin Room” on the top floor with private bar and cloakroom facilities nearby. The nearest tube is Bank.
The event will be catered for with a buffet of pub fare sponsored by the Pro Liberty Party.
Formality begins at 8 and will be concluded by 9. Please do RSVP, as it helps to feed you, but it is not essential.
For those keen to help the event be successful, there are now leaflets available to download and print. In A5 (one up) and A4 (two up, for cutting).
Quick question as I can’t make formalities will drinks continue after 9 as I should be able to pop in between 9:30 and 10. Will be in area just at meeting.
