Why can’t all the lefties go and build a second USSR somewhere in Gobi Desert? Or somewhere else, where no one lives..Their own state without credit agencies, with minimum wage 500gbp/minute, with free education, lunches and healthcare, their green energy and so on..
Demand five: Begin a fast track process to bring the fossil fuel economy to an end while at the same bringing the alternative energy economy up to energy demand.

Play nice guys! The link is to a forum post, not an official list of demands.

Open borders and guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment and free college education!?!?!?!?! This is way I can never see myself on the left, they mean well but completely away with the fairies.

Sorry I thought the word ‘proposed’ made it clear that this was not an official manifesto as such. Even so is still batsh*te insane (apart from open boarders, which the authour probably wants for the wrong reasons)

Open borders + guaranteed living “wage” is batshit insane on so many levels.

For the tax money the US spends on keeping the war machine going it could probably do a number of the things on the list. Most mainstream Dems/GOP politicians want pretty much the same amount of money spent, but on bombing people instead.

*sigh* This is why I call myself a classical liberal rather than a libertarian- defence is a legitimate and necessary function of the state (indeed, togther with upholding the rule of law its only functions IMO).
Yes, there is a great deal of scope for trimming the fat, but even so it is not defence spending that is bankrupting the US, it is the unfunded liabilites of Medicare/Medicaid/Social Security that are the problems (likewise in the UK, IIRC the defence budget is less than 5% of total spending)

“Defence is a legitimate and necessary function of the state.” Sure. Like in Ireland or Sweden or Switzerland. I can see that. The size, cost & scope of the US Military-industrial complex is of an entirely different nature. If I lived in the US & Paid tax there I would be of a view that a society that can afford pointless foreign wars, that vast military, the Wall Street bailout & the War on Drugs can put some Medicare/Medicaid/Social Security my way.
