Discussion Point: What should UK bound Ron Paul fans get up to?

Tonight in the US Republicans will gather to begin choosing their candidate for President. Many libertarians fancy Paul for a win or high placing in Iowa and will be turning out in droves to support him.

A good result for Paul will mean a flood of interest in senator and, indirectly for his ideas, which means a flood of fresh faced libertarians. For those new Ron Paul fans in the UK whose role in the US is limited to observation, what could they be getting upto here?

    Nothing, American’s don’t like foreigners getting involved in their elections and it may backfire on you- anyone else remember the Guardian’s attempt to influence the 2004 election? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Guardian#Clark_County)

      I think the question is wrong….
      Those who are from the UK and believe Dr Ron Paul will bring change which is in favour of the people, need to find their own Dr Ron Paul here in the UK…
      A man who belives in our rights.
      A man who puts the people before money.
      A man who believes the people are free and are allowed to go about there business freely- As per the LAW.
      The US Constitution was created using the English Constitution (as well as other legal documents, such as The Bill Of Rights) yet MP’s, courts deny it exists… But DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH

    Simply spreading the word. I know a few Americans who vote Democrat and I’ve had lengthy debates with them about Paul and seem to have actually persuaded one or two to at least consider voting for him after the debates with me (whether they just said that so I’d leave them alone, I’m not sure).

    The best we can do in the UK is simply spread the message of Paul. If he wins in the US, that is a victory for the message of liberty everywhere. I write a blog which has a healthy number of hits per day worldwide, so even something like that can help open people’s minds to the cause of liberty for which Paul represents

    I think there are laws against foreign donations to US political campaigns, but certainly through the internet we can support Ron Paul. He is speaking on subjects which are just as relevant to us in this country, such as sound money, ending the wars, balancing the budget, ending the war on drugs etc.

    Ron Paul more than anyone is putting libertarian ideas and principles into the political discourse, and as such he is attacked by those who disagree and those who misunderstand, and we have an opportunity if not a responsibility to counter those who misrepresent those ideas, and I would say counter those who attack him maliciously and lie about him.

    The media will try to bash Dr. Paul. I think it will be helpful to keep the international media in check by monitoring and responding to their attacks.

    I am from the UK and am a fan of Ron Paul. Is there a candidate in the UK that is like Ron? (a Ron Paul equivalent). If there is, I cant find him. Please tell me so I can vote for him.

      The nearest equivalent party are UKIP, but it is a sorry compromise as there is a wing in their party that is very socially conservative e.g. they wanted to ban burkas.
