So Egypt has been rumbling along for a while with a fresh round of protests of the revolutionary victory that wasn’t, and now it’s turned into an even bloodier mess.
What’s the Libertarian interpretation of events in Port Said? What can we learn from it about the world and our own struggle?
Given that all is not Honey and Milk in Libya either…
I believe it suggests that most of these countries haven’t worked out what they want and they remain very divided. I predict further bloodshed and the possible break up of some of these countries.

Well that’s grist for my mill. Another reason why changing basic underlying ideas in the culture must happen first, certainly before a revolution. That’s a lot persuading that needs to be done 😦

After all, governments originate not from Mars – they are formed from just another citizens of the same country.
The country deserves whatever government it has, that government represents cultural/political/historical/other views of the majority.

I do not know what the economic policy of the Muslim Brotherhood is.
However, the old regime (both Sadat and M.) never really broke with the fundemental structure of the system set up by Nasser after the 1952 Revolution.
Certainly under S. and M. millionaries emerged – but the basic structure of the Egyption economy remained the same.
Penny packet sized peasant farms (hopeless – but the result of government “land reform”) and a state dominated transport and distribution system. So what little is produced often just rots before it can be sold to customers.
Till such things are really dealt with Egypt will remain poor – dirt poor.
