Ron Paul Winning Delegates With Santorum Support Coalition – Policy Mic

One response to “Ron Paul Winning Delegates With Santorum Support Coalition”

  1. Sorry people – the contest for the alternative to Obama is over.

Indeed it ended (if I am allowed to use hidesight) with the New Hampshire Primary.

Just as the 2008 New Hampshire Primary proved that Mitt Romney had not really done the ground work (getting the dog catchers and local officials on his side – just relying on television and radio advertisments, which is just not enough) so the 2012 New Hampshire Primary proved that the Romney campaign had done the ground work. Ditto most everywhere else (Romney even did well in Iowa – a place where he came a poor third in 2008).

The Romney campaign had done the work it needed to do – and it had done it in the four years beween 2008 and 2012 (remember Romney has done nothing else but run his campaign since January 2007 – people like Ron Paul have been off in Congress or holding down other jobs).

Do I think Romney is a strong candidate against Obama?

NO – of course he is not.

He is a rich guy (thus opening the class war attack), he is a Mormon (thus BOTH raiseing Christian evangelical doubts about him AND making social liberals hate him on principle), and he carries baggage on key areas of policy…..

“Romneycare” – remember Santorum said that Romney was the worst Republican in the country to run against Obama ON HEALTHCARE (the bit the media leave out).

But weak candidate though he is, Romney is the candidate – so get over it people.

When one goes to war one goes to war with the armed forces one has got (not the armed forces one would like to have).

And when one is in an election campaign (and the Obama versus Romney campaign HAS ALREADY STARTED) one fights with the candidate one has, not the candidate that one would like to have.

As the great philosopher Buffy the Vampire Slayer might put it….

    LIFE SUCKS.

Still there is a vampire to be slain (Comrade Barack – enemy of the West), and at least “Mitt” does not WANT to destroy the West (it is not his OJECTIVE).

“But Paul, is this really the best the West can put up against Sauron?”

    See above.
