According to the Daily Mail Sir Olly “faces jail for calling councillor a c*** on Twitter”. I don’t at this point, know very much about the case. It appears he posted a picture of the Councillors home at the same time and said something about posting excrement. I can’t exactly endorse that kind of thing and it’s an interesting philosophical edge-case as to whether that amounts to incitement to violence (UPDATE: sending poo in the post probably counts as violence, so I guess it is incitement). However, knowing that Olly and Old Holborn are both prone to unserious remarks of a disturbing nature makes it seem implausible that it was a serious call to arms.
That said, the story is being spun as Olly facing jail for calling someone after a genital organ. Sorry, but if free-speech means anything, it means calling people names.
UPDATE 2:
key facts appearing in the comments, but this from Olly himself seems particulaly important, esp. re the “unserious” point above:
Hellooooo world? I didn’t put any address to any picture. Nor did I name any names. Are we clear? Good!
